Jilleen Pfarr (Director)

Welcome to The Home School EAGLESHome School XC & Track & Field Competitive Team!

Jilleen PfarrI started running competitively during my freshman year of high school at Milwaukee Pius, and continued running at UW- Parkside in Kenosha, WI. During my college years I married and had my first child.
Post collegiate, I taught 2nd graders and trained to qualify for the Olympic trials in the 1500 meters, and came within a second, but was stopped short of my 1500 time goal due to a car accident and subsequent injury.  Within this disappointment, I decided the best thing I could do was have another child. Which we did. God used the time off of running to get the ‘god’ of running out of my mind long enough for me to turn to Him.  Shortly after becoming a Christian, I began assisting my college coach and training for road 5k’s again.  It was an enjoyable time of running with the collegiate women’s team and road racing, but the original injury loomed and doomed when training got too intense, ending my running career.  I also ended my teaching career in favor of the first of several home based businesses and home schooling my two children.
The desire to live and home school in the country, moved our family west to Walworth County and our first farmette. After five years there and desiring more land, once again we moved westward to Rock county. We also added three more children, all born at home. Of course! After five more years, in addition to managing our home business and home schooling, I began to look for ways to support other home school families especially through the teen and HS years. Since I love running and anything home based, debuting a running community was a great fit!  The first Home School EAGLES XC teams were formed and raced in 2010. We also hosted the first Home School Championship Meet that year, with 6 home school teams from WI.
Our team numbers have gone from the original 16 to over 70 athletes. Of course there are many coaches and families that make our HSE community special, and these folks work hard to give families and student-athletes a great experience. I enjoy directing and coaching the Co-ed Eagles Teams, and strive to develop VERY competitive running programs at HS & MS levels for home schooled, and more recently virtual and christian educated student-athletes. In all that we do within this community, my hope is that all involved are impacted positively for the Glory of God.

I am excited for the opportunity that competitive running will bring to all of our mostly home educated students. Competitive sports help develop discipline and character. Running in particular is a great metaphor for life’s mental challenges and helps develop physically healthy habits for life too!

In 2018 I celebrated 30 years of marriage to Steven Pfarr. We have five children all of whom we have or currently home school.  The oldest two are graduated from our home school, with our oldest son married to a formally home schooled student, they have five sons. Our oldest daughter lives at home working in equestrian field. Our younger three children are home schooling and having fun making friends while competing on the Eagles teams.

I love Jesus, my home school community, my backyard chickens, gardening, running and racing(when I can).

Running is a great metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it.”
